Polymer polyvinylidenefluoride (PVDF) pressure gauges with high response frequency (up to 109 Hz) and high pressure ranges (up to 1010 GPa) are used to capture the transient pressure at the interface. The total thickness of the gauge package is about 0.1 μm. The sensitive area is about 10 mm×15 mm. Dynamic calibration of PVDF gauge is accomplished by the collision of elastic steel bar using Hopkinson bar. The elastic stress wave signal from strain gauge has a rising time about 10μs, an average pressure about 220MPa and a duration time about 80μm. The PVDF gauge exhibits good linearity with piezoelectric coefficient 24pC/N.
